Frequently Asked Questions

Q1 What is FocusLeaf?

FocusLeaf is a distraction blocker for desktop computers. It blocks distracting websites and apps to help you stay focused, keep a healthier routine, and stay in control of your screen time.

Q2 Which desktop systems does FocusLeaf support?

FocusLeaf currently supports Windows only, and a macOS version is in development. In many cases, Enhanced Web Blocking can also block web access from Linux environments running on Windows, such as VMware Linux virtual machines or WSL.

Q3 Which browsers does FocusLeaf support?

In Enhanced Web Blocking mode, FocusLeaf blocks web access at the system network level, so it covers mainstream browsers, niche browsers, embedded browsers, and nearly anything else you can run. In Standard Blocking, FocusLeaf supports 25+ browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Brave, Naver Whale, Firefox, Zen, Vivaldi, Arc, DuckDuckGo, Quark, QQ, and more.

Q4 How does FocusLeaf block web pages?

FocusLeaf blocks web pages through proxy- and browser-based techniques. It works without requiring browser extensions.

Q5 Does FocusLeaf require administrator privileges?

Yes. FocusLeaf needs administrator privileges to provide hard-to-bypass blocking on Windows.

Q6 Is FocusLeaf really hard to bypass?

Yes. FocusLeaf combines cross-account blocking, time-tamper protection, app disguise detection, system-wide web blocking, and uninstall protection, making a locked plan extremely difficult to bypass.

Q7 Can I still use FocusLeaf after the beta test phase ends?

When the beta period ends, you will be prompted to update to the latest stable version of FocusLeaf. The beta build will stop being available, but your plan configurations will be preserved when you update. The beta period currently runs through August 1, 2026.

Q8 I made a mistake and locked myself out, what should I do?

You can download the Force Uninstaller here. It also helps fix network issues that may remain after a lockout. If anything is still unresolved, please contact me by email.

Q9 Can I take a break or pause after a plan starts?

Yes. FocusLeaf supports multiple break modes. You can use daily, weekly, or monthly Usage Limits, or pass a Typing Challenge to earn a break for a fixed duration.
