Deep Focus

Deep Focus is a strict allowlist mode. You can block all apps and websites, then allow only the subset you actually need.

Basic Rules

  • If you use both Allowed Apps and Allowed Websites, make sure at least one supported browser is also allowed.
  • Deep Focus does not interfere with important system programs.

How It Works with Break Modes

If you use Usage Limit or Reward, using apps or websites that are not on the allowed list consumes break allowance.

You can turn on the Desktop Timer to see when allowance is being consumed.

Multiple Deep Focus Plans Cannot Overlap

Deep Focus plans cannot have overlapping active times. Only one Deep Focus plan can be active at a time, and FocusLeaf checks for this automatically.

Desktop Timer

When a Deep Focus plan starts, you can show a floating task timer window on the desktop.

  • If you use Usage Limit, Reward, or another usage-based strategy, the window warns you while allowance is being consumed so that you do not spend it by accident.

A Common Combination

What if I want to allow work apps and some games, but still limit when or how long the games are available?

You can combine a Deep Focus plan with a separate blocking plan.

Allow your work apps and one entertainment app, such as a game, in Deep Focus. Then create a separate blocking plan that limits when or how long that game can be used. The game stays allowed by Deep Focus, but it is still restricted by the blocking plan.

Combining Deep Focus with blocking plans gives you much more flexible control.
